Rocketry Lab
Dates:
August 30, 2013 - grades 4-8
September 6, 2013 - grades 9-12
Registration Deadline: July 10
What we're doing
Join us at the Challenger Learning Center in Columbia, SC for a one-day Rocketry Lab!
Students in grades 4-8 will attend on Friday, August 30, and students in grades 9-12 will attend on Friday, September 6. All labs will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, with a break for lunch (meal not provided).
This program will introduce students to rocketry. We'll build three rockets with increasing complexity as skills are learned (building materials will be provided). We'll be able to take rockets home (they are reusable, with separate launch supplies you can purchase afterwards for home use). If the weather cooperates, all rockets will be launched throughout the day. If it's raining or too windy, we'll receive detailed instructions on how to launch them later.
At least one parent (or another adult) is required to attend with their children. If they participate, they have to pay the same tuition (the cost is mostly materials). If parents prefer to just observe, then there is no fee (please list in the comments section of the registration form that you only want to observe).
Enrollment is limited. I will maintain a waiting list and will add families if openings become available after our maximum is reached.
(Note: No drop-offs. Parents, or another adult, must attend this event with their children. Proof of age, such as a copy of birth certificate or other document with name and birth date, must be submitted with registration. Only those participating in the program may join us - no tag-alongs, please.)
The registration deadline is July 10.
Cost and what's included
The cost for each participant (students and parents) is $85 each and includes your registration fee, all activities, and three rockets per participant to take home. No cost for parents who just want to observe (they won't have rockets to take home). Lunch is not provided, so plan to bring your own (there are also several fast food restaurants nearby).
Cancellation policy and refunds
Payments are refundable only if I have a family on my waiting list to replace you, and a $25 per person cancellation fee will be deducted from any refunds. No replacements, roster changes, or refunds will be made after July 10, 2013.
Want to go?
Full payment is due within 7 days of the date I confirm your registration. (I'll send you a confirmation email with payment instructions.) If I don't receive your payment by the due date, you will be moved to my waiting list to fill any open spots that remain after my deadline. No reminder emails will be sent.
After you complete the registration form, you'll receive an automated notification that it posted correctly. This email does not confirm your spots in the lab - it just confirms that your registration went through correctly. Please email me if you have any questions or don't receive your automated email within 30 minutes of registering.
If you have students in more than one age/grade range, you'll need to register them separately.
To register for this lab, click here. Please note in the comments section of the form whether you plan to be an active participant in the lab, or just want to observe. (The cost is the same as for the student.)
(I use the same registration form for all of my field trips. Please make sure you choose the correct field trip on the form and complete all required fields.)
