Dinosaurs in Motion & Zapped!
November 3, 2014
Registration Deadline: Registration is closed. Please consider a different event.

What we're doing...
Join us for the Dinosaurs in Motion exhibit at Discovery Place in Charlotte, NC. This is a new interactive exhibit that blends art and science, featuring 14 fully interactive, recycled metal dinosaur sculptures with exposed mechanics inspired by actual fossils. We'll be able to touch and move each dinosaur as we explore kinetics, biomechanics and robotics. We'll also earn about drawing, sculpting and puppetry through the story of John Payne, the artist who created the dinosaurs.

We'll also attend Zapped! An Electrifying Experience, a 40-minute educational program that showcases electricity and electromagnetism and the "raging lightning storm" between two brilliant scientists: Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison. Zapped takes a humorous but historical look at the battle of electrical currents. Volunteers from the audience will participate in the shocking story as they unveil eye-witness accounts and electrifying demonstrations.

The registration deadline is September 30.

You must arrive by 10:00 am to get your wristbands. The exhibit (and the rest of the museum) is self-paced, but Zapped! is scheduled for 12-12:40 pm.

(NOTE: No drop-offs. Parents, or another adult, must attend this event with their children.)

Cost and what's included...
The cost for each participant is $10 per member, children under 2 are free. This includes admission to the museum, exhibit, and Zapped! Non-members will be added on a space-available basis for $13 per person (children under 2 are free).

Parking is an additional $8 per vehicle if you park in the museum's parking deck (payable when you exit the garage).

If you need a hotel, please note it on your registration form and I'll email information about our group hotel near the museum.

Lunch is not provided, so plan to eat at the museum's cafe (organic foods), bring your own food and drinks (I've reserved space in their lunch room), or there are plenty of restaurants within a block of the museum.

Cancellation policy and refunds...
To keep the cost of this field trip low, there will be no refunds for cancellations, no-shows, or late arrivals. Your signed registration form and payment acknowledges that you understand and agree with my cancellation and refund policy.

Want to go?
Registration is closed. Please consider another event.

Important Notes
Carolina Homeschooler members have priority for this event. Non-members will be wait-listed until after the registration deadline and will be added if spots are still available.

Full payment is due within 7 days of my registration confirmation email.

Please make sure you select the correct event on the registration form. (I use the same form for multiple field trips.)

You (or another adult) must attend this program with your children. No drop-offs.

Plan to arrive by 10:00 am, and allow plenty of time for traffic. I will distribute wristbands to families at that time and won't be able to wait for stragglers.

Parking is an additional $8 per vehicle, payable at Discovery's parking garage.

Lunch isn't provided. Plan to eat at the museum's organic cafe, at a local restaurant, or bring a bag lunch and drinks.

If you need a hotel, please note it in the "comments" section of the registration form. We have a group rate with a hotel near the museum.

No refunds for cancellations, no shows, or late arrivals.
